Battle of the Bluebonnet
Campus & District Competition
Students must read at least 10 or more of this years Bluebonnet Books in order to compete. Students will answer questions related to each one of the year's Bluebonnet books. The more students read, the better they will be at answering questions. So make sure to read as many books as possible. The campus battle will be in February.
The students who answer the most questions correct in the campus battle will be invited to the district Battle of the Bluebonnets.
Each student who participates in the district battle also receives a medal.
The winning school will get to keep the trophy until the next Battle!

What is the Battle of the Bluebonnet?4 students from each campus in RRISD are chosen to go to the district battle. Students must answer the majority of questions correctly in the campus battle in order to be chosen for the district battle. Each campus competes against other schools in the district to win the trophy. The trophy stays on the campus until the following year's battle.
The battle consists of 2 questions per book for each of the 20 Bluebonnet books. Students will answer questions using an response system and emcee, Bryan Mays, will lead the competition. Battle 2018Battle 2017Battle of the Bluebonnet 2016This year's competition was even bigger. And the most exciting news was that the Round Rock Express/Dell Diamond hosted our battle. Spike came to visit and we had more participation than ever. Great job team on a successful competition. Even though we didn't bring home the win, we were tied for 5th place.
Battle of the Bluebonnet 2015This year the competition was huge. Because of our win last year, I think many students were concerned about keeping the trophy. 5 students from Great Oaks came to the competition and did an outstanding job. Congratulations to those 5 who competed against 29 elementary schools in RRISD.
Battle of the Bluebonnet 201415 students participated in the Campus Battle of the Bluebonnets this year to determine who would come to the district battle. 5 students were selected to participate. Congratulations to all students who came to the battle. I am so proud of each of the students who tried and wanted to help win the trophy back.

In 2011, the first year we conducted the competition, our campus won the Battle of the Bluebonnets. The top 4 students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade will be chosen to compete in the district-wide battle. Our students will answer different questions about each Bluebonnet Book and if we win, we keep the trophy for 1 year. Parents and students getting ready for the competition...

This year, 2013, 5 team students were chosen to participant in the district battle. There were 24 schools who participated. Our school did a great job. Forest North won, Teravista came in 2nd and Caraway came in 3rd place.
In 2012, on March 8th, 20 schools from Round Rock ISD competed in the Battle at Sommer Elementary. Our team of 5 only missed 3 questions and came in 3rd place. The winner was Brushy Creek Elementary and they won the trophy. So now our school has some stiff competition up the road and I'm hoping that we will win back the trophy. |
